Busker Hospitality
Kelly and Shannon Busker began their story in hospitality in 2013 with the purchase of The Square View Inn, a historic building on the square in Unionville, MIssouri, with furnished apartments that are outfitted for nightly rental. Then, in 2017, they added The Alamo Inn, an existing motel in Unionville that had been vacant for a few years. Interestingly, The Alamo Inn was originally built and operated by Shannon’s grandparents in 1973. Both properties were extensively remodeled. In 2021, the family added the Nodyroc (soon to be The Prairie Trails Inn) in Corydon, IA. Their son, Cooper joined the family business and manages that site. This property has also been in a multiple phase remodel project with all but 7 rooms completely remodeled as of August of 23. The newest addition to the Busker Hospitality ownership is the Royal Rest in Chariton, IA. This property will also experience a major “makeover” in the future.
The Busker family is striving to change the expectation for lodging in rural communities. Kelly says “we expect and love to hear our customers talk about how pleasantly surprised they are as they enter the properties and the rooms. They aren’t expecting to see higher end furnishings and 50” TVs with wonderful beds, pillows and luxurious towels. But, that is what we provide and we do it at an affordable price.” All remodel projects include new electric, plumbing, added sound absorption along with all new furnishings for each room. They also provide a remote check in system that allows you to get into your rooms immediately upon arrival.
Kelly has 20 years in corporate management and Shannon works in the commercial Interior Design Industry. Together, they are putting together an efficient, affordable, aesthetically pleasing, clean, high quality model for rural Midwest lodging.
